Pepper is a very popular spice we use in our homes for cooking and even baking.

While some people love their food to have much pepper, some don't.. It is all about individual preferences.

Some argue if "Pepper does anything to the body?'

The fact is that Pepper is more than just a spice you need in your dishes. It doesn't just give you that taste you want, it does something to the body.

All peppers are rich in Vitamins A, C and K plus other essential nutrients you might need.

Here are some of what Pepper can do, our focus will be on Red Peppers:

1. Packed with Antioxidants: Pepper with their high level of Vitamin A and C help to prevent cell damage and help to boost your immune system. The Vitamin K present promotes proper blood clotting, prevents cells from oxidative damage and strengthen bones.

2. For Clearer Sight: With the high level of Vitamin A which helps to support healthy eyesight. This effect of this can't be overemphasized.

3. Prevents Anemia: The Vitamin B6, C and Folate present helps to prevent anemia as they help in proper absorption of iron.

4. Prevents Cancer: The lycopene present in pepper and responsible for the red colour helps to prevent prostrate cancer, cancer of the bladder, cervix and pancreas. Beta-cryptoxanthin, another super carotenoid in red peppers helps prevents lung cancer especially relating to smoking.

5. Reduces Cholesterol Level: The capsaicin (this what makes pepper hot and cause us sweat) in pepper has been shown to decrease blood cholesterol and triglycerides,  even boost immunity and reduce the rick of stomach ulcers. They increase in the body's heat production (you can relate to this after consuming hot peppery food) and this shows your body is burning calories!!

So, next time someone tells you pepper does nothing to the body... share with them these secrets.
And please consume pepper as you can take it!!! (your preference only!)
